The Dreaded Double Doink

Did you see that double doink? The field-goal attempt that went doink and doink again, before missing? It is one of the topics of a Q&A with David French and Vivek Dave. Tragic, tragic. We also discuss last night’s college championship game, pitting Clemson against Alabama. Robert Ehrlich, the former governor of Maryland, titled a recent book “Bet You Didn’t See That One Coming.” I felt the same about the game.

David was in a ballet studio as the game began. Evidently, his young daughter had a lesson. But it’s possible that French is studying a leap or two on the side. He has done so much in life — the law, the military, the journalism grind — why not ballet?

In this podcast, we touch briefly on college hoops. Vivek, who is no friend of the Michigan Wolverines, offers a wicked marketing idea (and a good one): T-shirts in Ann Arbor that say, “2018 Calendar-Year Champs.” Before last season’s NCAA final, we (Michigan) were 14-0. This season, we are 15-0. So, in a sense, we are 29-1. The 2018 (calendar-year) champs. Get it?

Moving on …

At the end of this sportscast, we talk about the NBA, and the effect of threes: A good effect? (The boys say yes, absolutely; I’m a little less sure.) Also, James Harden is miraculous, right? Right. But does he travel? Yes, very much so. Is Steph Curry the greatest shooter of all time? Yes, but with a caveat.

Anyway, this is a lively half-hour or so, if you’d like a break away from the political wars or anything else. Again, here.
